Program Overview

The Marquis Stowers: Champions of Tomorrow Book Scholarship was created to encourage excellence through scholarship and leadership. It aims to assist first-year college students financially with the cost of textbooks and study materials. Seniors graduating from Humphreys County High School are encouraged to submit an application.

Selection Process and Notification

Scholarship recipients are selected according to merit on a competitive basis. In addition, applicants must demonstrate career and academic potential measured by a combination of factors, including past performance and career objectives. Four book scholarships in the amount of $250 will be awarded to recipients whom are graduating seniors of Humphreys County High School. Not all applicants will receive awards. Although the committee would love to inform all applicants of their status, only scholarship finalists will be contacted by the selection committee.

Award and Payment

The Marquis Stowers: Champions of Tomorrow Book Scholarship is a one-time award of $250 that will be awarded to four recipients. Awards are non-renewable and are paid in one installment. Award recipients are required to present the selection committee with an Enrollment Verification Form from their college or university’s registrar’s office during the first semester of college to receive funds. Checks are payable to the recipient.

Eligibility Criteria:

- Must be a Class of 2025 graduating senior from Humphreys County High School.
- Cumulative grade point average of 2.75 or above.
- Must be enrolled in a two- or four-year college or university as a full-time undergraduate student in the fall of 2025.

Deadline

Applications are due May 31, 2025.
